A therapist directory for South Africa, built for referrals.

01

A verified psychologist directory for practitioners

The directory lists verified practitioners and is visible only to other practitioners. It is a working tool for colleagues, so profiles can include the detail you need to make a referral: fees, availability and how quickly someone responds to requests.

  • Verified practitioners only
  • Visible only to other practitioners
  • Profiles with bio, modalities, qualifications and fees
  • Availability and referral responsiveness

Filters that match how referrals happen

A referral usually starts with a specific need: an educational psychologist referral, someone who does assessments, a colleague in another province, or a practitioner who speaks the client’s language. The filters are built around those questions.

  • Specialty and designation
  • Province, town and language
  • Medical aid, price and reduced rate
  • Online or in person
  • Assessments, for an assessment psychologist referral in South Africa

03

A therapist referral network that protects the client

Referral requests are sent with no client-identifying details. The other practitioner sees what the referral is for and accepts or declines. Only then do you pass the client’s details on, by email or WhatsApp.

  • Requests carry no client-identifying details
  • The other practitioner accepts or declines
  • You pass on the client’s details yourself, once accepted
  • Incoming requests show how long the oldest has waited

Your trusted referrals list

Most psychologists already have a list of people they trust. Star practitioners in the directory, and add private contacts who are not on Wholistic, under My trusted referrals. The list is yours alone.

05

Referrals recorded on the client file

A referral is part of the client’s record. Mark “referral required” on a note and the referral is recorded on the client. The Referrals tab on the profile shows where the client was referred on to and whether each referral is still open.

  • “Referral required” on a note records the referral
  • A Referrals tab on every client profile
  • See which referrals are still open
  • Referral sources and their value appear in Practice Insights

The Growth pillar

Growth through the colleagues who trust you

Much of a private practice’s growth comes from other practitioners. The Growth pillar treats referrals as part of how a practice develops. You can find the right colleague quickly, be found for the work you do best, and see in Practice Insights which referral sources bring clients.

A referral is a relationship. Treat it like one.

Is this a public psychologists directory for South Africa?

No. It is a directory of practitioners for practitioners. Members of the public can’t browse it. If you want clients to find you, your Wholistic website and booking page are public.

Is there a referral network for psychologists in South Africa that includes counsellors?

Yes. The directory can be filtered by designation and specialty, so psychologists, registered counsellors and other verified practitioners can find each other.

What does the other practitioner see when I send a request?

The request is sent with no client-identifying details. They see enough to decide whether they can help, and accept or decline. You share the client’s details only after that.

How does my own profile stay up to date?

Your fees come from the rates you set once in Wholistic, and the app prompts you to confirm your directory profile is still current, so colleagues aren’t referring on old information.

Can I keep contacts who aren’t on Wholistic?

Yes. Add them as private contacts under My trusted referrals, next to the practitioners you have starred.
